Since 2022 I am teaching interaction basics and interface design at HM.
The courses are marked as “Grundlagenkurse”, meaning essential to the industrial design bachelor.
I share the belief that it is essential for todays and tomorrows designers to own a profound understanding of the principles of human machine interaction, and the principles of designing (for) digital solutions, systems, logics.

Here, we do not only code simple programs or identify and design around complex information hierarchies like the menu of an automated coffee machine, but also discuss the technical and psychological principles of an “interaction”.
How do (intelligent) objects communicate with us, and how do we interact with them? What signals, feedback, information is needed in order to create an intuitive, joyful and trustworthy interaction with technology?
